Buckleton Beach
Short drive from Matakana is Buckleton Beach, well hidden, yet peaceful and worth visiting. Grassy bank with picnic tables is lined with pōhutukawas’, boat ramp ready for launching your boat. Picture perfect spot for a picnic and afterwards dip. At low tide you can walk along the beach and rocky shore. There’s no toilets or changing rooms.
Where is it located: From Warkworth drive to Matakana, before Matakana Country Park turn right and carry on to Takatu Road, then turn of to Whitmore Road. Buckleton Beach is at the end of Whitmore Road.
Approximate duration: about 20 mins
Dog friendly (on leash), in summer (1st December to 1 March) dogs are prohibited from the beach between 10am and 5pm.
