Kowhai Park
Next to the Hill Street Intersection is Kowhai Park, short trail with historic lime kilns built in 1884. There’s a carpark with toilets and picnic tables at the beginning of the track. Bushwalk is rich in native flora and you’ll see some of the biggest Matai Trees in the area.
Track connects intersection with Westpark Glen, Heritage Lane and Totara Retirement Village. At the end you can turn around and make it a loop track or walk to Matakana Road and from there go back to carpark. Hill Street Intersection is significantly quiter since opening new highway, though still take care when entering and exiting carpark as there’s lots of incoming traffic. Walk itself isn’t usually very busy.
