Dome Forest

Dome Forest, located between Warkworth and Wellsford, offers three hiking options. Shortest and easiest track goes to lookout and takes about half an hour. Walk is steep at the beginning with number of steps, then carries on through native forest to lookout platform overlooking Warkworth and Hauraki Gulf.

Next two walks are ranked as tramping tracks, good fitness level and sturdy shoes are essential as terrain is challenging. First track goes to Waiwhiu Grove, second one will take you to Govan Wilson Road. Both tracks are part of Te Araroa.

Where is it located: 492 SH1, 68 km from Auckland. At the end of new motorway on the roundabout turn left and carry on SH1. Turn right to carpark at Dome Tearooms (cafe is currently closed).

Approximate duration: to lookout 20-30 minutes one way, to Waiwhiu Grove 1 hour 30 minutes one way, to Govan Wilson Road 7 hours one way
